Abraham Concepcion, born and raised in the Golfito area, has fished his entire life. Starting off as a commercial fisherman, he then moved on to captain at some of the Golfito area lodges. In 1998, he started running the Golfito Sailfish Rancho where he began his fly fishing career. From 1998 until the present, Abraham has had the opportunity to fish with and learn from the best fly anglers in the world. He was able to take the art of fly fishing for billfish to a new level. While operating the Golfito Sailfish Rancho, Abraham not only honed his skills, he also became a wonderful teacher. He helped many customers learn how take their first billfish on fly. He can teach the new fly angler to the seasoned fly angler how to cast to and fight a billfish and actually enjoy the entire process! Imagine releasing a pacific sailfish on fly in about 10 minutes! Most anglers would be in for a grueling 45 minute to an hour fight with a huge sailfish only to release it and not want to go through that again! Abraham is working with The Zancudo Lodge to help teach and work with the customers in the art of taking a billfish on the fly. He will be available for seminars, private lessons and to share time in the boat for getting that billfish on fly! This gives Abraham the opportunity to share his knowledge and his passion with his old and new friends in this great sport.
During his years of fly fishing, Abraham has researched and found the best gear that has enabled him to advance to the highest level of performance and skill.
